AE92 GTZ plug question

Postby Lloyd » Fri Oct 01, 2004 5:29 pm

And no, not spark plugs (although I just put some colder ones in today :D)

There is a plug at the back which looks like it should be for the MAP sensor, except that I've already plugged the MAP sensor in and this other plug has the 'key' as it were offset. MAP sensor plug has the bit in the middle (so I know I've got the right plug) but this other one is offset. Any ideas what its for.

Also, after doing this turbo conversion I'm getting a fault code 31 coming up (MAP sensor?) yet my boost gauge which is hooked into the MAP sensor line is reading fine. Electrical problem?

Any help appreciated
Cheers guys

How much boost?
The fault code will come up if the sensor reaches it's sensing limit as the ecu will think it's faulty.

The plug would have originally gone onto the ABC valve for idle control.

Ah, thats where its from. Forgot I had that before  Currently running 9psi boost. Exhaust manifold is leaking now which means the bloody thing has to come off again. I think one of the threads might be stripped right on the end *sigh* Already fixed one, this better be the last one.

$&#$% sweet. Manifold face wasn't entirely flat so it spat one end of the gasket out but I've fixed that today. Sounded like detonation and scared the crap out of me.

But other than that its sweet. Adjusted up the TPS yesterday and now it feels a bit nicer. Spooling noises at constant throttle going up hills makes me dribble :D Just starts to light up the 215/35/18s in second in the dry when boost comes on, and thats with LSD too. Would hate to think what its like with smaller wheels on. I would say how its goes off the clock reasonably quickly and the needle goes a lot further around than I thought it would of, but thats not legal so I wont. Did some of the AE92 GTZ not come with speed cut?

How goes your freshly blackened weapon anyway?

sounds like yours is going well :D.
what initial timing are u now running?? I had to put mine at 0 degress , total is about 20 degrees when on boost at 7500rpm.
I had it on 10 degrees initial and it slowly ate the piston over about 4 months.

i still got to put the clutch and lsd box in then i can finally wind up the boost!!

Running bugger all advance right now. Was hoping the exhaust leak was actually that and not detonation so knocked it back a bit just incase. Was still there so figured it must have been the gasket. Right now its probably running about 5° base. Still on clutch I bought the car with which seems to be standing up perfectly well, and engine doesn't seem to mind even though its just about to click over 285,000. Gonna have to rebuild the whole thing with good/better bits sometime early next year I think.
