clutch or gearbox?

Postby Voodoo » Thu Oct 07, 2004 9:12 pm

hey, i recently got a new clutch (bass button i think) shudders if u ride clutch,
anyway im finding that its getting hard to change into gears (especially when cold) mainly first, reverse, and changing down to third,
now when i push clutch in its pretty much at the floor before it engages and quite often makes a small whining sound as a change into gears as if clutch is maybe not totally engage? can anyone shead some light, is my gearbox getting shaged or could it be something to do with clutch?

Cheers

try bleeding the clutch fluid. there might be air in the lines which means you have to push the peddle in further to dis-engage the clutch... or it may not even dis-engage properly.

Then you got sold a crap clutch, when you ride a button clutch it just wears exceeding quickly.

Voodoo, before you go bleeding the system, try adding a half turn or two onto the master cylinder rod length, the new clutch will probably have a lot more meat on it that your old one so will need more travel on the pressure plate to disengage it fully.

Did you get your flywheel skimed?.If you did you need to know how much was taken off and add a washer of same size under the clutch fork pivit to compensate.
