differences 5efe, 4efte

Postby the fallen303 » Sun Oct 10, 2004 1:54 am

hey, just wondering on the differences between the 1500 5efe, and the 1300 turbo 4efte. other than the cc's and the turbo, is there any internal differences? does the 4e run any internals more suited to turbo? or is it internally the same? wondering if i can take the external stuff off a 4efte and bolt it up onto a 5efe, obviously replacing the loom and ecu. would anything else need to be changed?

thanks.

comparing ae100 5efe and ep82 4efte

4efte has compression of ut 8:1 compared to 9.5:1 on the 5e. 4efte has forged/semi-forged/what ever u wanna call them they are stronger than stardard. heads are of same design (narrow dohc) but i dont know if there interchangable.

Im not sure if the pistons are interchangable, if they are you should definatly use them. 4efte may have a few more internal features, I know with 4age/4agze the 4agze has more oil squrters and a larger diameter pressure plate.

Depending on boost you may want to do something about the driveline.

" u can turbo the 5E. but in order to go over 6-8 lbs of boost u would have to build the bottom end, pistons, rods, and get goodies like ECU, clutch, etc, etc. however the 5E is a 1.5L where as the 4E is a 1.3L. so u have a little more displacement here. not as easy as the 4E but more overall potential for power if u have the money to get into it. 4efte and 5efe heads are the same. The 5efhe has different cams - hence the H. 4e pistons are lower comp although this could be just due to the rods. Really need a epc to confirm a few suspisions of mine regarding e series internals.
