Do i need these?

Postby rollas22 » Tue Oct 12, 2004 1:16 pm

just about there with the 4AGTE conversion in the AE101 levin.
Now ive come to a hitch.... here goes:

the original piping between the intake plenuim and AFM there are 2 pipes going into it, 1 from the rocker cover, and the other from somewhere. Check picture.
Now i want to know do i need to still use these with the turbo engine, by plumbing them into the new pipe work? or can i bypass them??

What do they do anyway?

as much info would be greatly helped.

the one from the head is a oil breather all the nasty fumes and crap get sucked back up to get burnt. Now your turboing this is gunna get worse and you dont really want to put it through your custom intake thingy. So go buy or make a oil catch can. Cant help with the other one any idea where it comes from? I cant remember

hmm hard to tell from that pic... the one from the valve cover you can feed into a catch tank, in fact i recomend that.
as for the others if i remember ill have a look on my car and see what they do, prob a sensor of some sort.

the other pipe is an idle up most likley for the air/con. i've removed mine all together and hasn't created any problems.
for the oil catch tank run the hose from the breather to the tank and then if you don't want your car to fume you out at the drive thru plum the return from the breather to the intake side of the turbo.

The pipe probably heads down to the idle speed controller.

What are you running form a ecu?

Hold up.. so your boosting your car and leaving the pipe into the rocker cover in the same place?.. On hondas, you MUST disconnect the pipe goin to the rocker cover otherwise it wont vent and pressureise and blow.

Im not familiar with your engine, but if your going to be forcing air into the rocker cover then dont do it.

catch can is easy, just have a pipe coming from the rocker cover to a coke/sprite/fanta bottle.

I think he's stated that he wont be leaving the breather pipe in that position. It's not only on honda's. You dont need to be einstein to realise if you left that pipe in the current position, you'd be boosting right onto the rocker cover 8O

that pipe if it's the one i'm thinking of should go to a soleiod mounted on the firewall then back down to the throttle bodies where there are a series of small tubes. (if you still have that on there)
i believe thats the idle up for the a/con, i have removed it and has not caused anyproblems. i have also removed the a/con

since you have changed to link the soleniod is probably inactive now anyway[/quote]
