cambelt on a 1k-zte

hey guys my dad wants to know how easy / hard it is to change a cambelt on his 1994 toyota prado i dont quiet know the model or anything buti ts a 3.0 L turbo Desil Limited edition if that help

it has a 1K-ZTE engine

theres a black box on the front where its contained ....

so whos done it or knows how easy it is

any thing to look out for

or is it just as easy to get toyota to do it $450 roughly

it has the same engine as a SSR hilux if that helps :D

as long as you keep all the timing marks ligned up and tighten the nuts correctly it is a pretty straightforward job. depending on access, it may just take a little while.
If not sure about all the marks etc then perhaps just as easy to take to your local mec to do.

the 1kz is pretty simple to do afaik, depending on the model it can get a little fiddly but its certainly not the hardest one to do!

rough indication on price for whats needed

a toyota belt preferably and theres a gasket ? and the tentioner ?

1/2 to 1 hour job tops.
around $55 for genuine part.

a cambelt at toyota, they class cambelts as a 2-3 hour job, so thats what they charge. inc
-belt
-tensioner (common)
-LABOUR!!
-GST

but most of the time, itl be part of a 100k service, or similar.

but 450 may be over the top, for a cambelt job on a 1kz
