Funny air con

Postby minijrocks » Sun Oct 17, 2004 8:48 pm

Hi, sorry i know 'air con' topics have been done before but i dont know if they have the same problem as me.
My air comes out fine but i cant seem to get it really cold like other air con units in other cars. Im Guessing this is because its out of gas ?? (i dont know how aircon works sorry...).
One guy on here said it would cost $600 or something, then another $80.
its a ae101 trueno if it makes any difference.....
look foward to another costly job for my car :D

I am just getting into doing air con stuuf at work and there's no way it should be near 600 for a regas.
To change from old r12 gas to new r134a gas with a new drier oil etc should be $100 - 180 max.
Modern cars wont do as cold as the older models cause of the way they are built. Should get about 4-8 degrees out of the vents.

I've seen an Audi getting -7 out the vents - chilly!

What should an 87 Hiace be getting out the vents? Mine don't go either - gonna get the mechanical insurance people to pay for it though :D

Most Air Con places do do free checks if your after a place that doesnt rip you of like some places. As I just have been going through getting Quotes and found AutoCool is a place that has very Reasonable Pricesfor eg. $80 for a Regas and I had to get a Stone Puncture Welded up on my condensor they charged me $132.19 includding a Regas. Idividual Costs were -GST Regas-$80 Labour-$30 for a 1/2Hr and Welding $7.50.
