4k Ke70 problems

Postby Me_19588 » Thu Sep 30, 2004 4:41 pm

Yeah just having a few issues with my 4k in my ke70 broken down twice in the last 2 days, starts to miss then you loose everything and then it stalls, will start fine again but will happen again when you get sum speed up again like 60 or about there, or you loose all power to starter motor and can't start it.

Any one have an idea, mangaged to limp home once and to be towed by a mate the other time thought we had fixed the prob. Getting a bit embarrasing now.

Must be electrical. So your not getting any power to your starter motor at all? It cant be your battery lead (cos its working somtimes)
Could be a loose conection, But that shouldnt kill your engine as they will run on with out it... only to destroy your altinator.
Check the voltage of your battery after a rest, it could have a cell shorting (happened to me).
Or the starter motor may not even be a related problem, so it could be lack of fuel/ blocked line etc...
But id say check all major conections, battery voltage. May be old fuel, It aint running on av gas is it!, some cars hate it. 8)

Battery is pretty new, has enough gas getting to it, pretty sure it is electrical, but not battery as you don't loose any other electrics in the car was only going 50 meters or so each time before happening then when we went to drive to the mechanices it drove the whole ways with no problems its the second time its done it.

Yeah the mechanics having a look at it in the morning his thought are the coil or resistor are playing up, i even have a spare lot in one of my other cars, but it is over in carterton :x hate not having all my parts in one place.

Don't have the car here the mechanic is looking at that in the morning ran out of time tonight, I gave up after being stuck on the side of the motorway for an hour twice, and spending the next two days trying to fix it.

i dont quite understand your explanation..
you say u either CAN start it, and sometimes you cant?

have you check the igniton low tension curcuit? loose or worn connection maybe?

something you can check is ignition timing. At idle, cruise revs, and under load and check the advance mechanisms are functioning properly, and not falling off track. Ive never come across, or heard of this problem, but its worth checking.
