Postby kingcorolla » Tue Oct 19, 2004 7:48 pm

the runabout needs a new motor. so i picked up a donor car to do the swap.
i never removed a FWD engine b4, just want to know if the engine can be removed with transaxle attached?

Just drop the whole lot out the bottom. Easy as pie.

Yep, can be done. drop under being easier if you can lift the car hugh enough, otherwise through the top some models I have worked on just need a bit of tilting to get clearance.

I'd probably undo the suspension at the tophats so you can pull the drive shafts out of the gearbox and then hoist it from the top.
How come you want to keep the transaxles connected anyway?
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

you dont need to take the struts out to take the drive shafts out if thats what your saying Adamal, but im not sure that is what your saying :?

just undo ball joints and tie rod ends then pull axles out, no prob.

yes, the engine can be removed with the transaxle attached.
A plan so good my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about...

u dont even need to undo any ball joints, just undo the 2 bolts connecting the strut to the hub carrier. undo the cv nut and u can just tilt it all to one side and pull the cv out of the hub. (doesn't apply to hondas)
meh.....
