wana lock ae85 diff

i wana lock my ae85 diff will it handle it? and is there a special way u have to weld it?

Should be ok! But you can break anything! :D

Just weld the spider gears to the side gears, should end up with eight seperate welds. Try to clean all the oil off before welding. :)

just go wild with the welder. Even melt up a few bolts if you have to.

just be sure that it rotates afterwards!

And I'm hoping this is for the track, as welding a diff is extraordinarily dangerous on the road. Anyone remember the case a few years back, when some dumb $&#$% locked his diff, causing too much strain on the axle and related assembly. Hub ended up breaking loose, hitting and killing a young child.

cut 2 plates to fit inside the spider gears and weld it up, it pays to heat the gears with a bit of gas to ensure to oil is burnt off and enables better weld penetration. welding the gears only makes you vunerable to failure and rooting the CW/P, sending steel gears and oil out through back of the housing .

exactly.. your wheel will wobble around a bit, but the hub is still bolted to the housing.

haven't seen broken spiders.... if it's all welded to the casing, and too each other, then it should be stronger then the axle.
