if you really want to run a manual behind the 1JZ (or either 1JZ or 2JZ engines) and you dont wanna fork out $2,000 for the R154 or apwards of $4,000 for the V160 (6 Speed) then i suggest you get hold of a big shaft W58 from a manual MKIV (JZA80) Supra. If from a Supra then you'ls already have the bellhousing, and have easier access to the right clutch kit combination.

Might wanna try finding all your other bits from a JZA80 Supra as i THINK the drivetrain are the same sizes.. a otherwise its a custom job. custom shafts are around about $600-900 depending a few things (length, universals, yokes etc.)

Another thing to look out for are the shifter positions from the boxes. Front, middle or rear shifters.

And as Drifter4ag suggested you wont really have much driving time with a T50 behind a 1JZGTE... i think even a 1JZGE you'ld be pushing your luck :?

lol,

T50 and 1JZGTE do not match.
Even W55 aren't that flash behind a good one.
Our W55's used to last three events behind a 1JZGTE.

You'd crack a T50 backing out of your driveway :? :?

Like the others have said before.....easiest thing to do if you do not plan on pushin much more than 400hp is go for a W series box. 57/8 but the 58 would be best suited and get the rear mount shifter.

If you go upwards of 400hp then you'd want to luk at forking out the money for a R154 as they can handle everything you're going to be throwing at it.

If you really wanna the V160 way for the 6sp you'd be lukn at forking out about 4K jst for the box alone. And you will most probably need some modding in your tranny tunnel to fit one. This can be acomplished by using a hammer easy enough.

I would personally go for the R154 instead of the V160 but I won't go into why right now cuz i'll be going for weeks....(ask Mr Oizo why  )

that sounds a little better...

would be best to get a W58 from a 2JZGE (non-turbo) as the've got the W58 (big shaft) on them.

Chances of finding the W58 JZ bell-housing on its own is pretty slim. But if you do it wouldnt make sense as it would prob be the same price as it with the bell housing.
