I can't believ that you didn't check the plugs at the same time 8O No guarantee that it's causing the problem, but if a couple of the leads were shagged, then there is a high possibility the corresponding plugs could be fouled quite badly.

Couldn't find a spark plug removal tool. Lame excuse I know. I've checked them now, I couldn't get the 2 and 3 out no matter how hard I tried, bent the metal bar trying. But 1 and 4 seem to be firing perfectly so I am still at a loss as to the problem.

Hmmmm, wonder if the plugs have overheated to such an extend that they've 'welded' themselves into the cylinder head thread? Obviously there is no way that plugs should be in that tight. I would be extremely suspicious that this could be a possible cause of your problems perhaps?

It would be unusual that 2 and 3 are having problems when 1 and 4 are not though.

Hmm, dunno...I've heard that the number 3 piston can lean out due to the design of the inlet manifold.
Maybe you're a gumby and were tightening them? :P

Not likely, I don't do stupid things! 8) Nah I have no idea why they are so tight but its pissing me off to no end. Looks like I'm gonna have to call in a mechanic.

If you're just using one of those one-piece spark plug removal tools it might be an idea to borrow someones ratchet or powerbar and a sparkplug socket and extension

Try also putting some easing oil down into the plug holes and leave overnight. The oil can then penetrate down the therads and potentaily make it easier to remove them.
