Well my alternator belt looks stuffed and it is squelling or my power steering belt is squelling not sure but im after 2 new belts.

I'm after either sizes of them or part numbers i can quote to toyota.

Belts i need are for a 4age 20v silvertop in an AE92 rolla.

If you can source them for me Mr revhead and i pay you for it maybe that would be a better option.

Thanks guys.

Mr Revheads gonna need the numbers himself - he might be able to find them if you give him the details like the model, chassis number etc

Oh well that failed. I talked to toyota spare parts in Campbelltown which is in Sydney and they said the numbers are invalid. I thought this might happen. Why is this so i had similar problems last time trying to find the belts.

Any other ideas i don't really want to take the belts off until i have a replacement unless i have to.

ok, your in sydney.
that makes a difference

i reckon the best thing to do is pull them off and head to your local repco./supercheap or what ever you have there.
theres nothing special about the belts and you will find some suitable.

if no luck there (cant imagine not) try:

http://www.twincam.org/forums/index.php?act=idx

do a search, if that doesnt find anything, there will be some one there who will know the size.

Bah i have already posted there and no one could help me or no one wanted to help me i'm not sure. Everyone is telling me to take the belts off but that means i will need another car to pick them up so i'm trying to do it without having to have them sized up.

count the teeth on the belt, this will be the first part of the code (5pk for 5 teeth, or something like that from memory) and the second part is usually length of the belt. run a piece of string around the path and then either measure this or take it in with you to ripco (or alternative). thats how i usually do it, never had a problem.

cheers

In regards to finding out which belt it is, check tension first. Then simply get a wax candle and while the engine is running rub wax on the belts in turn until the squeeling stops.
The answer is Helmholtz!

Thanks guys you have all been great help especially in comparison to twincam16.org.

I should be able to work it out from here i hope. Don't worry once i get the belts and they are all good ill make sure i remember the sizes and if anyone needs to know they will only have to ask.
