redline begin or revlimit?

redline at 7500, (where it begins), ends @ 9 i think (on the guage).

revlimit is around between 7600-8000, but i swear ive had tony's up to 8,000.. or mayb his guage is funny, engine was screaming its little lungs out though ^_^.l

redline is ment to be 7400rpm, facelift rev limit is at 8500rpm, pre-facelift is 8200rpm I think.

mine revs to 9k ;)

mine goes quite happy to 8000, the red bit starts at 7500 with the line, then fully red at 8000+ , i havent taken it to valve bounce yet, and i dont really intend to unles someone wants to fix it for free if something pops

it wont valve bounce, only under uncontrollable cercimstances does it do that.

eg a car that redlines @ 6, but is revved to 8, where the springs cant handle it.

your ecu will cut you long before you manage to *bounce*

How do you change the rev limiter fom say 7500 to 8000? Is there something that can be modified in the factory computer?

It cuts injector so yes it will run lean, this is why it's not a good thing to bounce off the limiter...

I understand that older cars have a rev limiter by way of a spring with a weight on it that is inside the dizzy - when the centrifugal force of the dizzy spinning round gets to a certain point then it will cause the spring to stretch enough stopping the spark from the rotor... (haven't had it explained properly to me and have never actually seen one so that could be slightly wrong but sounds logical) they aren't common these days as far as i know.

For the record, my facelift silvertop used to hit limiter around 8500

it's only claimed to be 8000 tho so it could just be the fact the tacho reads only 4 times a cycle (I think) and by the time it gets up there the needle just keeps going and the engine stops....

Na when you hit the limiter it cut's the spark. Ever looked behind your car when you have hit the cut and seen the puff's of black smoke come out if it was fuel it was cutting off there would be no smoke
