4age auto to manual conversion...

Postby exegenisis » Sun Jan 09, 2005 7:59 pm

as you all prolly know by now i am a n00b...
so i was wondering exactly what would be involved in converting my 92 ae101 fxgt 20v 4age (is that the proper way to say it lol?) from the current slush box to a manual....
what parts would i need, how much would it cost to buy the parts...
as to the labour, my mate can do it for me but just in case can someone throw me a few numbers...

Would be worth the hassle or should i spend my money else where?

any ideas?

it just so happens im about to do this conversion on my cousins car.
parts are $750-850

its not a hard conversion, but a few little bits that need buggerisng around.
you need to drill holes for the clutch master cyl, and the lines run along the firewall behind the engine, so looks like easiest way is to pull the engine out.
other than that its pretty much just swap the parts over. wait a coupla weeks and i can let you know more if you want

I can sell you everything you need for your conversion for $750

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

What is it with toyota's not having the fire wall pre-drilled for a clutch master cylinder etc. Just did a manual conversion on the missus's starlet and that didn't have the holes either. The other cars i've done manual conversions all have them predrilled but filled with rubber bungs - mind you they have all been nissans, skylines, cefiro's etc
