4K $&#$% Oil Seal?

Postby pervert » Thu Jan 13, 2005 11:03 am

4K, got driven pretty hard for 30 minutes or so...(well OK, it was on a MotoX track so make your own conclusions).

Opened bonnet, oil EVERYWHERE...

Am just about to go and start cleaning/pulling to bits and just thought I would ask...is there any common places these things decide to start spraying? Its a $&#$% mess with no indication of where it is coming from...

Side note> Still running perfect, so can't be anything too major...

Exactly what 'metal casing' are you talking about?

Sounds like that could be it, the bulk seems to be coming from the back two plugs...well that area...

Do you mean the metal cylinders that the spark plugs sit inside, with the rubber ring at the top of them?

yup u got it exactly! they have a tendancy to break at the bottom and cause the spark plug not to be sealed in the metal casing. Pull it out and check them.

It felt a bit slugish at the time but its been fine ever since.
