Although I have much respect for the GTR... I would have to go for the sheer sexiness of the Supra(RZ)! Not only is it goddam sexy inside and out (when done properly), it is goddam quick, and comes with that good ole' toyota reliability :D . Thats not to say that the GTR isn't quick or reliable (don't have any personal experience with GTR's, so can't comment on reliability), but I find the looks of the GTR to be bland. The RZ has always been my favourite car, so its no contest in any case :) .

GO THE SUPRA! :P

hmm. maybe I should have named this poll GTR vs Supra vs GTO .. then the GTR and Supra could go neck and neck for votes and the GTO could have about 3 votes total. It doesnt take a brain surgeon to figure out why a GTO costs 15k  go GTR and go Supra 8)

I like alot of others used to think GTR's were the ultimate japanese car, but the potential and reliable horse power that can be gained from Supras leave the Skylines for dead.

People should stop comparing the super modified GTR's and Supras as their pretty similar I guess, and who can afford to spend $100,000's on?

Although the 2JZ will ultimately always make more power and torque than the RB26 due to the larger capacity, whether you like it or not its true...Theres no replacement for displacement!

As far as standard cars go, ask any tuner how much power can be gained out of a Supra and GTR with standard internals. Over 550HP the GTR will need a full rebuild with pistons, rods etc. And due to the high reving nature of the RB26, it places more stress on the motor when highly tuned.

The Supras however are getting 600 to 700HP with standard internals. Some examples are even pushing 800HP.

As far as reliabilty goes the GTR's have nothing on the Supras. As soon as you mention GTR the price of parts doubles. From Engine to Gearbox to Diff, the Supra is built to take punishment.

If you can afford a GTR and the thousands it takes to make one fast and maintain it then go for it you'll have a great car. You'll be in an exclusive club in New Zealand of about 20 or 30 individuals.

If you want to spend less for the same or more horsepower, and have better reliabilty then go for the Supra.

yeah gtr needs revs to make high hp so cost more
supras bigger engine makes lots of hp at lower revs
and cost less to do so.
but on the other hand if got lots of hp gtr 4wd helps alot
mmmm so supra high hp = big balls lots of fun
gtr high hp = lots of fun and paying more
even if you ask me. :D 8) :D
but its not hard to know what i would pick (gota love 6speed)

R32 GT-R for sure. Considering the fact that it is my dream car (ahead of my second dream car the Ferrari F50) and all. :)

I have a topgear video where a R33 gtr stocker is the fastest car around their test track, beats ferraris etc.. with half the horsepower.... oh and a gto, came near last , LOL. All the drivers said it was the worst handling car in the test. So i think the gtr would woop the supra around the track but top end drag race the supra would win... just my 2c worth ;-)

As much as Supras are cool, there's just something about a GTR that makes them that extra bit special.

I have a video from the 'temple of vtec' site which I found on Imesh of a stock RZ vs a R33 GTR doing a lap around a track, unsure of the length, and also recording the 1/4 mile times. The GTR does a 13.2 and 240km/h and the Supra does a 14.0 roughly and 236km/h. I would have thought the Supra would catch up but it just didnt.
Id have either, but I like the Supras a lil more

MMM R34 wil have to be one of the most sexyest car shapes in the world

but nothing can compare a AB-flung supra or the JUN 3.2l life member of the 200mph " clocked at 402km " supra

A) the gtr has 4wd, better off the mark
B) the gtr weighs less (by like 30kgs lol)
C) the supra has legs, keep them going and the supra would pass the gtr

whats the topspeed of an R32 GTR? from what ive heard, 310 in a supra isnt unheard of... but then again, no hard evidence.

but hey who cares, just buy an sw20 turbo and make it run 9's :D

Did you read the part above where the Supra hit 236kph and the GTR 240?? That will be the top speed over a finite length of track - but not a restrictive one. If the Supra hasn't caught by then, its not going to be in a big hurry to. The launch has well gone by then.

I wouldn't go comparing modified examples, we all know both go insanely hard with mods - lest we forget GTRs and their dominence of the "RH9" and "0-300kph" clubs in Japan.

I would have to say Supra. Skylines are common as and although the GT-R's are rare they are similar to the lesser spec'd ones. I respect them for their horsepower and they are good, tough looking cars but a Supra is something totally different in my opinion. One comes into work occassionally with the TRD kit and I just stand at the door looking at it... screw the custys!! That and I have always thought that 4WD is just cheating :P I do own a 4WD but not for much longer.
