Gt4 st205 mods and prices

Postby TRDmod » Tue Jan 18, 2005 8:55 pm

hi alkl, i got quotes for prices, anything i need to lookout for and stuff.

induction system:
heat shield, aluminium piping, 2.5 or 3 inch, chromes steel for heat shield. and a pipe from the spotlight in front of the car leading to the filter for cold air. they said they will do everything and the plumbing and the air sensor fitted correctly etc and a pod for 200 dollars.

battery to the boot:
gold terminals, big gauge wiring 350 dollars

BOV:
i was told that its not a good idea to keep the factory bov due to the fact that the air box is being removed and its not what its designed for, and i got quoted 290 fitted a BLITZ bov brand new.

are these prices reasonable?? also, anything i need to look out for?

and an AUTRONIC computer for my car, i was told that by installing and tuning mhy car with a autronic computer, and remapping the whole car, i would get roughly 30-40 kilowatts of power just by changing the exhaust to 3 inch, which i already have, induction system which im getting and the computer....jsut by remapping everything..l..

any comments?

Do you have a downpipe from the turbo to the exhaust? Or just the factory elbow ?

battery to boot.. fk thats expensive

go down to a sterio place and get it priced up there for bat to boot, probbaly cost you 1/4th the price.

or do it yourself, run your positive from wherever it connects to the battery, with huge ass wiring, to the boot, stick the batt in a box, and connect postive up to it, then make yourself some HUGE wiring from all grounding points on the car to the chassie (gearbox to chassie, engine to chassie etc), and have a mass one from the chassie to the negitive :).

simple as pie.

mmmm

pie

You missed one VERY important bit in your little tutorial CozmoNz.

You MUST fuse your positive wire, other wise you run the risks of shorts, and even fires :?

There are lot's of tutorials on the internet on how to do it all, so if you want to have a go at doing it your self, just have a search on google and have some fun.

yeh yeh, do a fuse :), 100a is enough isnt it?

make sure its put as close as you can to the battery too, so thers no chance it breaks off in a crash and touches the chassie then all hell brakes loose!

yeh, i did actually know that, just forgot to mention it.

Well, you may have knowen, but did TRDmod? I'm sure he wouldn't be too happy to go and kill his car :?

I haven't done it before, so I don't know what size fuse it needs. But I'm sure Repco or Supercheap sell kit's to move your battery to the boot.

Can't see any need to change the BOV, I'm running stock ones in my Caldina & MR2 both of which have aftermarket filter (Blitz Pod filter in the GT-T & ARC cold airbox in the MR2). Stock BOV works fine if it's fitted correctly.

Probably a bit optimistic with their estimates, more like 30-40HP not KW, don't forget the cost of dyno time to map the system, if they haven't got a base map from a car with similar mods it could be quite expensive.
