Something is missing .....

Postby gordon77 » Thu Jan 20, 2005 9:58 pm

well i have a 91 ae92 fxgt. ever since i got it it sort of whistles under certian throttle positions. thinking it was air intake (producing the whistle) i took the air intake pipe off and found there was a large rip around the ribbing in the pipe. i fixed it with gaffa tape, works a treat but still whistles slightly
then i found a hole in the back of the filter housing. it has a rubber seal around it sort of like an o ring. i am thinking there is suposed to be a sensor in there of some sort... whats missing???
when the car is hot and has been running for ages the ilde drops to like 500 rpm. when you cover the hole with your finger it raises the idle slightly :?

there should be an air temperature sensor in the airbox. Is just one part of the system to meter the fuel.

Isn't that for the air temp sensor?

If you can get a pic or two, we'll be able to help you a lot more.

It's not crucial but it should be in there, if there's a hole where it should be then your engine will be sucking in un-filtered air, it's prob had a pod filter on it at some stage and a previous owner has just removed it.
Is it small port non tvis 4age by the way?
