Boosting but no speed!!

Postby FST4RD » Thu Jan 20, 2005 10:45 pm

Coming home from the toyspeed meeting tonight my car stuck an unusual problem, in 2nd and 3rd (prob 4th and 5th) i'd put my foot down, you could here the turbo spool up and the boost gauge would say 14psi but it was like there was hardly any boost going into the engine, it was real sluggish. I checked all the piping when i got home and there were no off pipes, i checked the oil and it was just above low (not sure if this is a prob though?) Can anyone help!?!?!

I bet if you go and start your car up now and take it for a rip it will be fine.

Knock sensor has probably detected some knock and pulled ur timing back.
Drop the boost back a tad until it doesnt do it, but it will always pull it on 96 after an extended thrash about town.

Or the knock sensor could just be $&#$% and bringing up a code 52 in which case you'll have about 50Kw
Try a diagnostic on your cars ecu and see if you've got any codes, if you don't know how to do it I'm sure Al will show you considering you both live in Chch

Ok, i got in the car this morning and took it for a quick rip and the boost, which normally goes up to 15psi and backs off to 13psi wasn't doing that, it was shooting up to 17psi and sitting there solid!!! then i went and had lunch with my brother came back took off again and the boost settled back to it's normal 13psi. bit worried bout this, i have a GFB anti boost spike under the bonnet controller, has anyone ever had that problem with those controllers???
