What happens when compressor surge occours with a flap......

What happens when compressor surge occours with a flap type afm?

with a hotwire it allows it to simply pass by.. (such as the 180sx), but my corona has a flap type. true, it does have a bov from factory, but what if it didnt?

im sure the space between the turbo and the afm wouldnt be enough to quickly *accomidate* the amount of air rushing back.

so what would happen? because flap type afm's dont bend that way X_X.

I own a Toyota Supra Turbo, it has a flap type air flow meter and no factory blow off valve. You take your foot off the accelerator on full boost, and you hear the compressor surge, but that's about it. The car doesn't hesistate or misfire or anything.
