Thread size on oil pressure switch

Postby limbo » Mon Jan 24, 2005 3:47 pm

Can anyone tell me what tread size the oil pressure switch is on the gen1 3sgte, MR2. I am trying to install an oil pressure gauge and don’t want to strip the threads with some stupid american size. Mine is JDM version.

Also does anyone know where I can get a T piece that I can attach the standard oil pressure switch and my new gauge, I am just going to make one out of bits if I can’t find one.

Yeah i was just checking that it was BSPT not NPT. also does it matter what its made of brass or steel etc? and if you have a pretty small thing hanging out of the side of your engine with a somewhat heavy pressure sender unit on the end, is it going to break off the thread in the block as i go over bumps?

Yeah if someone wants to put a pic of there set up that would help, as on my 3S-GTE there doesn’t look like there will be room between the cast water manifold and where the standard oil pressure switch screws in.

Yea mine had no room for a T, you can run a oil line then run a T mounted somewere else with both senders onit (factory an guage) or you could try an find one of thise.... took me ages to find one.
