I think the 20v driver mentality of believing they are driving the world's quickest road car is the main issue I have against them.

I don't like the characteristics of the 20v. They are known to be shit outside of their 5000rpm-7000rpm powerband. Same goes for B16A's and the likes.

What would you rather race with? High power (relevent to capacity) in a narrow band or a bit less power over a more broad band? It's good to have some up and go in the lower rev range. Because realistically in a race, keeping it within a 2000rpm range the whole time is not gonna happen.

I don't mind 20v's, I just don't like drivers with the mentality like most Vtec drivers that think peak power is the be all and end all.

I'd rather go for a tuned 16v, or a Group A 20v that has a much wider powerband :D (Although its power starts at 6000rpm!)
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

I hav a 20v Silver top in my Marino. It goes alright from about 4500rpm.
But this is my first real preformance car. But i do see its limited interest.

I'v been thinking of doing that to my one. Whats the problem?

I have a 20v and I don't think my car is the fastest in the world

You could be forgiven for saying that about me when I get my next 20v (audi s3, 1.8l 20v turbo). But that's not likely to happen in this lifetime

Try again. 4 more valves ;)

3 Valves per cylinder in a 1UZ.... Okashinaaaaaa....

And as for what valves to:

You've got the tappets which are pushed up against the valve with springs. Cam lobes rotate with cam shaft to push tappets down and make the valve 'open'. This lets the mixture of air and fuel into the cylinder.
After the combustion is complete, the other cam rotates and opens the exhaust valve, letting the remaining gasses out.

Really? I remember reading somewhere that they only had 24 valves, which I thought WAS quite strange.
