Exhaust power increase?

Postby Sav » Sun Jan 30, 2005 9:54 pm

I currently own a ss3 97 celica with the factory exhaust system, even still has the cat in it =P
ive been told its a 1 1/4 inch breaking off to a 2inch down the track.

So ive decided to get a new system installed this thursday. 2 1/2 right through and ending with a 4 inch tip. Hoping to get some major increase from doing so.
Got a quote and pitstop said about $600.

Anyone else own/know much about changing the original systems to freeflows?. Got much of an increase doing so?

you will be able to feel a slightly noticeable difference..the difference is more exaggerated on turbocharged cars , where you can gain anywhere up to 20-30kw by changing the exhaust and filter. id say a bit less on an n/a car , maybe 10-15 kw. :D just be careful coz i have heard a few 3sge's which can sound a bit tangy at high revs...make sure ya get a good muffler .

How about from a stock ae92 4age with stock exhaust, to a 4age w/ 20v extractors, 2" mandrel?

What sort of power would i expect to gain there? or is it more of a power curve thing?

With a stock ge should i go with 2" or 2.25" mandrel??
