20v Silvertop Timing

the timing on my 20v silvertop is way off atm. what should i advance/retard it to? anyone running anything that seems to work well with the sh*t fuel we have here?

Most Toyotas are 10° base timing. Probably your best bet.

there is a good post on this subject somewhere on toyspeed.

I would run 2 deg less than standard says. That's what i found runs best on 96 as they are designed for jap 100 octane.

So 8 deg BTDC would be my suggestion.

i had mine (stupidly) advancing @ 22 degrees for a few years. i found the higher you advance it the more responsive the 20V became - but I'm very surprised the thing hasn't detonated to death yet.

lol, detonation actually makes them run bearings as much as cause piston damage.

100 octane on mormal timing,
that's what they are disgned for.
