Tacho question

well ive just put in an autometer tacho in to my ke25 with only one problem ....it doesent read. im sure ive hooked it all up right but for some reason its not goin the standard tacho has not gone either since i have owned the car so am asuming the problems are related. since the rebuild ive changed to elec ignition from a 5k and a GT40r coil but cant see how this would efect the reading. anyone had a similar problem or has any ideas

6 volt coil?
power from batt side of ballast, signal from -ve side of coil. Do this and should be right as rain. How is it hooked up now?

Funny but the this tacho is reading from the + side of the coil sorted now
