No, they're wanky because on 99% of applications they're pure rice. So morons like you can cruise through town in 1st and go 'listen to maah phat blow off valve, braaaah, it's turbo braaaah'.

Ah ok then......so you know for certain that this is definately the case in 99% of the applications aye? You've done intimate research on the subject before?

And I'm sure you've inspected my car aswell at some stage without my knowledge then because you sound fairly certain that my car does make a loud woop tsssshhhh noise.........

Also how exactly do you want me to drive in 1st gear while we are on the subject?

oH and moses to answer your question.....you could probably put a BOV on a GZE but it would be utterly pointless. If you really only want the sound go get an electric BOV or one with a button or something as S/C's weren't made for BOVs. I'm not going to go into why it doesn't ask someone who wants to put it into words.......

Yes.

My statement still stands, BOV's are wanky.

No you cant put a blow off valve on 4AGZE.
first... The supercharger disengages when load drops off so no boost.
second.... throttle body is before the supercharger so no boost pressure
against the butterfly
If it doesn't fit, force it.
If it breaks it needed replacing anyway!

yes u can put bovs on sc but means u hav to put another tb after the sc, pointless as it releases the compressed air ur sc has just built up, would give u lag as sc has to take time to fill ur intercooler and piping with compressed air agen!

The sc has to build up pressure again anyway because the engine has sucked in the left over compressed air from the piping and i/c anway. (more prominent in front mount application because engine sort of runs on after throttle pedal is fully disengaged)

But yeah, bov would be pointless.

My GT4 must be the 1% where it ins't wanky then as it was not only factory fitted by Toyota, but doesn't go 'listen to maah phat blow off valve, braaaah, it's turbo braaaah'. But then again so is the one in my Rover..... and come to think of doesn't a Scoobie, Mitsi, some Nissans etc have them as factory? Bet they add up to more than 1% proving, once again that you must be wrong

screamer pipes are more wanky that bovs.

i was in an under cover carpark and some tosser hooned passed in his skyline with rice pipe.

Man i felt like smashing him, so freaken loud.

Bovs are functional however, but in saying that i have yet to have a reason why i should be on boost in a carpark.

I see too many young people hooning around changing gears fast and the furious style to get their bovs making that noise.

i heard that cops pull you over if they hear your bov in australia.

just remember kids, its not the bov thats wanky, its the driver

It's amazing to listen to the amount of excessive noise people make with BOV's and screamer pipes. The thing I don't get, is why do you sometimes hear a BOV on a full throttle gear change... isn't that counter productive? Shouldn't a well tuned setup mantain boost pressure at WOT changes to keep as much power as possible?

Second point, why so much wastegate noise? I'm not an expert on turbos, but I thought a wastegate was for controlling the pressure (or flow) on the turbine/exhaust side of the turbo? If this is the case, then shouldn't the wastegate be closed when the turbo is spooling up, then only open to control the turbine speed once desired boost level is reached? If that is the case, then why can so much noise be heard from some cars even from low revs? I could be wrong, so somebody please explain to me.

In a couple of aussie states this is the case (NSW and QLD i think it applies), it all adds to "expelled gas pollution" and is punishable by a defect notice over there. Also the cops have a right to take said BOV's out over there as well....and i thought nz cops were wankers....

Alot of aussie distributors of BOV's are getting "stealth" versions of the most popular models, so when ur track racing u can have it screaming its tits off, off teh track ud think there was nothing there, all for a price of course...
