try switching the LED around the other way, if still not work then you probably havent got the VVT activation wire from the ECU

have you warmed the car up before trying to see if it works? it only works once the car is a running temp.

Have another look and make sure you have the right wire.

vvt comes on when you are over 50% throtle I think ( it is also dependent on o ther things like engine temp etc) make sure your oil level is correct, it may not be activated with low oil.

This is the guide i used, easy as can be. Works sweet too.

VVT-------------------------------------------------------ECU
|
|
|
|
|
|-------------------------------LIGHT--------------GROUND
| |
| |
| |
--------- |
| |
| |
| |
| | |
| ------- <=== 3-Way Switch |
| | | | |
| |
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
| | |----------------------------------------------------
| |
-------

1) Cut into the VVt wire in the vvt.
2) Run a Wire off that and connect it to one side of your 3-way switch
3) Run a wire from the other side off the switch to ground
4) Leave the middle one not connected to anything
5) Cut into the wire you have connected to the VVt (wire from step 1) and run it to your VVt light
6) Connect the other side of the light to your ground

How it works.

When the VVT is connect to ground, it will be on the whole time regardless of what the ecu is telling it, because it wont be
connected to the ecu at all. When it is connected to nothing, it wont work at all. And the other option is having it controlled
as normal by the ecu.

The Switch works back to front - when it is switched to one side, it will connect the wire opposite to the side it is switched.
So your "VVT ON" position will be switched to the left (going by diagram) your "VVT OFF" will be middle and the "VVT AUTO"
(ecu controlled) will be right.

The light is fairly staright forward - when the ecu or you activate the VVt the light will turn on. LED lights are great but are
difficult to use (resisotrs... even then they may blow). A normal 12v bulb would be the easiest, as you can wire it straight in.

Ok diagram came out messy as (it doesnt look like that) if you want it i can email it to you. Very straight forward non-technical diagram.

No you dont need the switch, skip it if you dont want it. All it does is let YOU control the VVT rather than having the ECU control it. With the switch you can have it on all the time, off all the time or let the ECU control it as normal.

No and Yes.

Blacktops don't have VVT-i they have VVT so the switch works exactly the same. Theres a few guys with ae111's on here that've had one working.

BTW, the switch does nothing if you are running a standard engine and ecu. I played with it in my ae101 20V on the strip and having it on between gear changes makes no difference as the ecu does a perfect job. Same with when you plant the boot in first. Comzo, how did you come up with that graph? Who measures the angle of their throttle position  Im sure its not auto on after 6400 either, I had mine to redline, albeit not very quick, without activating vvt.

only prob is i put a 3000mcd LEd in which lit the inside of my car up like a blue xmas tree at night, can be quite distracting and depending on where you sit - blinding haha

Yip ya right there Dr X, resistors can go any way, they are not polarised
