Fault codes for ST185.

Postby peas » Tue Feb 22, 2005 9:28 pm

I have found a few lists but Im still not 100% sure that they are generic. I was driving home tonight and then the "check engine" light comes on and the revs fall away. not accelerating or braking or anything really. I know to bridge the E1 and TE1 terminals but I need a list of codes. The idle has been rough so Im looking sideways at the O2 sensor as the ignition side has been totally replaced less than 9 months ago. Any help would be great.

Don't forget that things such as airleaks and incorrectly set TPS wont show up on ecu diagnostics, rough idling could be a split in the hose around the compressor inlet, it's very common on GT4's

Thanks man... yeah the intake hoses are a shocker on almost every toyota I have had!
I bridged the terminals and have come up with fault code 12 (RPM signal 1)... That seems to be crank sensor (could handle that), dizzy (yeah not a major) or ECU (better f#@kin not be).
Try and get it sussed out tonight but its a nice walk to work today... and typically the first day in ages where its drizzling!!

Just wipe your codes and check them say 12-24 hours later and see if you're still getting that code, it's not a major and will sometimes pop up if you cranked the engine over without actually starting, for instance you left something unplugged.

Okay the fault code is "12" so thats RPM sensors group one. I have asceratined that the 185 has no crank sensor and have just tried a new ignition module and no joy. The engine turns over fine but just doesnt seem to fire. What other sensor could be causing this problem considering that it occured while I was driving along at a constant 50km. The idle has been rough for a while now so maybe thats something to do with it but its a RPM sensor and Im stuffed if I know whats wrong with it.
