ST183 GTR with chopped springs?

Postby Liloss » Mon Mar 07, 2005 7:46 pm

i recently brought a GT-R ST183. My mte also has one but with chopped springs, and i kinda like the look but not the ride. Had me wondering, what damage would he be doing to the car? considering its 4WS? hes approx cut off half the coils.

Half of the coils? 8O

Man that must ride like a sack of shit, the springs wouldn't be captive and would move around so much...has it got standard shocks?

Would look $&#$% awesome though...

Just put some Kings/Jamex springs etc in it.
You'd prob root your shocks with cut springs, let alone the fact they're illegal.

Compressed Kings/Whatever with shorter shocks, its the only way to get cars low without using adjustables or bags.

No affect to 4WS I wouldnt think, as long as you've got sufficient clearance at the rear for the wheel to turn (whilst in 'sport) to both extremes without rubbing, and that includes suspension movement while doing so...

I personally don't believe in lowering vehicles that arent going to be used for a specific purpose, as the factory setup is typically optimal for 'average' conditions - and my cars get a fairly diverse run, including times where ground clearance is bloody useful :P But thats just personal opinion not backed up by much evidence...

I'm not too happy with my Jamex's in my st-182 anymore... the rear is very noisey now because when the spring compresses the coils rattle together... though the ride was not as unbearably hard as I was heard they might be before I got them
