shortning struts??

hey im looking at this sr id really like to buy but it has no warrant because the front springs arnt captive and so the struts need shortning, anyone know how much it costs to get it done??

any help wld be great as im really keen on the car!! as the rest of the car is in really good condition

Chamberlins on Sandyford St in chch do this. Can't remember price exactly but I think it was $120 for a pair if you take them in, + $100 if they remove and install them.

when i got my springs compressed the guy told me about some other place - "................. engineering" forgot what it was called. but he said its the same price as compressing springs - $30 each.

Probably Bellamy & East, I got mine compressed there for $30 each.

Nah they are fine, even chopped springs aren't 'dodge' if they are done right. They are just illegal.

As long as you keep springs captive, and leave plenty of travel before the car hits bumpstops, it rides fine.

no i meant getting the struts shortened is the same price as getting springs compressed - $30 each. B&E told me about another place that shortens struts.

If your in chch, take them to SAS, Shock and Suspension specialists. They should be able to help. I used to work for the auckland branch & I used to shorten them. :D
