techo problem

Postby BENS 8 » Mon Mar 07, 2005 5:23 pm

The techo in my 95 Corona is giving eratic readings. Have changed coil on bulkhead and igniter on near side by strut in engine bay; no result. Any clues or is the guage at fault and if so are they worth repairing and where can you send them?

Does it skip around while the car is running? Check your battery leads are tight, and that its getting enough voltage.

Other thing is check the wires on the back of the diagnostics connector in the engine bay. I have seen many a toyota with the same problem which in many cases is caused by a break in the IG- wire which runs from the ecu to the tacho & also out to the diagnostics connector, the break is normally right under the connector, have a look & see if that solves it.

Had a look at the terminals and the diagnostic wires and they look O.K. Any more ideas?
