Lowering my Levin AE111

Postby gary_l » Tue Mar 08, 2005 5:37 pm

Hi guys.

Any reccomendations on where should I lower my Levin (AE111) in Auckland?
What would be the recommended springs to use on my car and how much would it cost?

Thanks!!

Shock Absorbers Services will do it for around $500. Springs and labour included. But u will need to get your own wheel alignment afterwards. They have 25mm and 40mm lower spring in stock. Or ask Vvega for a price on sum TRD ones.

looks / performance?

Postby gary_l » Wed Mar 09, 2005 1:35 pm

hey mr revhead thanks for the reply.

it's actually a balance of both that im looking for. the car would look much better if its lower. all im concerned is that the ride would be awful after lowering. so, i guess after lowering, im hoping the ride would still be nice.

would trd spring do the job? as in would the ride be fine?

are there any other alternatives besides TRD springs? sounds quite expensive at 500 bucks...

$500 for trd springs ? sounds pretty reasonable to me who can get them and what are they like compared to king springs and the ones people seem to like using ?

are they the same price for AE101 FXGT springs with superstut
sorry for thread stealing

either kings, jamex, or cobra but i'd be pretty sure TRD would top them all, being specifically for toyotas.

i have TRD springs in my ae101, they are the same as that go in the ae111 non s/s.

they lowered mine damn close to 30mm (havnt measusred exact amount yet) and i am very very impressed. the ride quality is still very good. i was afriad theyd make it harsher but they havnt. cut out a lot of body roll too. kings will be a lot harsher. i strongly recomend not fitting kings.

price for TRD (just about all) springs is $415 delivered. they are easy as to fit ya self. or pay a garage $1-200 to do it. or im sure a toyspeeder will do it for a 24 pack!

SAS will probably fit whiteline (check with them) which is my 2nd recomendation

yeah SAS do whiteline springs for them. But if there not available, they will supply a set of dobisports. But I dont knw how good the dobi's are.

in my personal opinion, dobi's r crap, kings are too, Lamex (Jamex) give a real harsh ride, havent driven on TRD yet, but are good from what i hear, im getting either Apex or P.I when i get around to dropping my car, not much body roll, great handling, and a near factory ride and a nice drop.... and they dont sag!!!!

had some P.I springs in our old work hack corolla wagon, sat nice and level, and handled like a wet dream.

threw a few sets in Mercs and BMW's and we had the same results, we had a few customers come back and comment how nice they where...

my 2c anyway

You can get a set of kings from most places for about $400. Some will do combos with fitting for a small fee. Buy yourself a set of spring compresors for $30-50 and do it youself. I havent heard anything bad about kings, know plenty of people with them. I would go with either them or trd. I think kings will be lower than trd.
Personally in my BZ-G i have TEIN coilovers, handles like a dream but then it should for $1000 a corner.
