How much turbo shaft play is too much?

Postby ~SlideWays~ » Thu Mar 10, 2005 11:32 pm

Im new to turbo's, ive just removed mine and it has a lil play but it doesnt smoke (anymore... lol).

Its a t25g, are there any sort of "safe" limits? ie should it have play when new and how much is too much.

Thanks in advance.

0.18mm up/down
0.13mm in/out

(Those specs is for CT26, but should be pretty much around that ballpark)
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

Shouldn't really be any in/out at all. You'd expect a little up and down which in most cases the oil would take that up (depending how much play there is)

generally if you can feel thrust(end to end movement) its warn
and side to side is hard to tell specailly if the oil has drained out of the turbo
