what do you mean by 'fuel chip'?

Are you also running the bluetop loom, dizzy etc? or red/blacktop loom but bluetop ecu?

I think the bluetop and the red/blacktop distributors are different and you cant swap them over as the plugs are different.

Just use whatever ecu matches the loom ( bluetop ecu with bluetop loom or redtop ecu with redtop loom) as I think some of the pins are different.

nope they are the same wiring same plugs, im not sure yet as i cant test to see what it does but it has be modified by fueltronics, its kind of hard to say what im runnig as the engine i got from an 85 corolla and i know that the red top never came out in them so it could be a mix

It shouldnt matter what engine it is.

Have you tried another ecu?

redtop and blutop ecu's are not the same..........
dont swap them round or you will end up with a pile of dead ecu's
redtops have a 4 wire dizzy
blutops have a 3 wire
and the pinout are also different on the ecu's

maybe you sould take it someones caus e buy the sounds of it youve already killed 2 ecu's and your onto killing a 3rd :(

I had the same problem of no spark a while ago.
Get a multimeter and turn the key to 'ON'. With the multimeter check for voltage between the + terminal on the coil and earth.

the car was runnig fine for ages the loom has three wires runnig back to ecu but the dizy is using 2 wires as common and thats how its been for more than a year until i had welding done on the car, thats why i tryed another computer. the coil and igition pack have been tested and are sweet i have replaced the dizy and done all the timing correctly so now i take it back to the computer and thats why im trying to find out if it matters what computer..

ill try my computers on the blue top thats next door and see if their car starts i think. then at least i can cancel out the computer being at fault

cause you cant rechip toyota ecus.... with out rebuilding it completely, then its not chipped, but rather a new ecu....

those numbers, mean different ecus, will check from what when i find the motivation!

Oh, and if either Mr Revhead or vvega tell you something about Toyota parts or motors, you'd do well to believe them ;)

there are also 2 different redtops just to make it harder
the redtop non tvis and th redtop tvis
both have different ecu's
you have traced a the dizzy back and you say that it has 3 wires...
one of those is for the 24t pickup and the other is for the 4 tooth pickup
the 24th controls the fuel
and the 4 tooth is the ignition trigger
you then have a common (wgite) id i remeber correctly

on the 4 wire there are 4 wires(shocking:D)
it has a 24 tooth trigger as well though on this ecu it controls everthing
it als has a home signal and a 180 degree home as well

it uses the home signal to decifer tdc of #1 cylander and works from there
the 180 deg home is a sync check to ensure that it is reading the rpm correctly
as you can see these are very differnt ways of determining triggers and is why ive said dont just plug them in

and for the rcord it is extreamly hard to chip a toyota ecu
what makes you thin its chipped ??
is the rpm higher than normal??
has it got amazing power??
has it got different size injectors ??

maybe its a custom ecu alltogeathier or perhaps this isnt the first time the ecu has died and the sticker you see is the people that serviced it last time
to be honest......
id ring them first to see if they have fixed the ecu befor just in case the wiring has now been modded and you have a ecu creamtoum in your car :D
just what i would do :)

How did you do the ign timing if it isnt sparking???
So you have a bluetop wiring loom and dizzy right? Does the car come with a 4age standard? or has it had a 4age dropped in it with a butchered wiring loom.

Maybe the ecu is standard but has just been sourced through fueltronics.
Or it may have another board installed in the case that modifies the map signal etc.
