FYI,

The 1GGZE and 1GGTE engine's had rods and pistons that are a direct fit into a 4K, same bore size, same big end bearing size, and same distance from the centre of the crank to the top of the piston, and yes I have done that and they do fit.

Also,

using the 4K twin squish japanese pistons and the NZ 4k head you get a super low compression ratio that is ideal for boost, but still uses old 80's design N/a pistons.

Any idea of what compression both of those options take the motor to?

This may be wrong, but cant you use a 3k crank as it has a shorter stroke for less compression? Thats what i have in my 4k altho it has has high compression with the deck height changed.
But with a normal 4k block, it would work wouldnt it?

Meh, flag the turbo 4K, a rotary or 4age conversion would cost you around the same kinda money, and give you just as much horsepower, much more reliably.

As I said, my friends' old 4K turbo KP60 was cool, but shat gearboxes/diffs/driveshafts all over the show, and eventually shat itself. That, and the fact that it wasn't much faster at all, and would get owned by pretty much everything else he raced, made the idea seem pretty stupid, all for the fact he couldn't be bothered messing around with mounts etc.

You car is a KE70 right? Just find a AE70 3A-U crossmember/subframe, it bolts in and gives you 4AGE mounts, and larger brakes (?), then a couple of hundred bucks to get it wired up, electric fuel pump, drop in a 4AGE, you'll be away laughing.

My 2c anyway!

exactly, why would you want to put one of Toyota's most famous, most reliable and most cost efficient engines in your car.

Your sarcasm lacks somewhat...every second KE70 has a 4AGE in it, that makes me yawn...after all, it is MY car...

Personally, I'd have much more respect for an angry n/a 4K than a turbo'd jobby, only because I've had experience with them!

I recall a PC mag a while back, with that baby blue KE25 with a dirty 5K with sidies' and a Lynn Rogers cam, ran a 15.3 or something? Pretty good for an old lump! A mate of ours Gtech'd his GTSt the other day, he ran 15.3 as well, kinda makes you go WTF!!

Honeslty man, if you decided to go 4AGE, I would make the trip down to give you a hand! :D

We did a couple back in the day in KP's. A lot of pissing around, but cheap & real cool, just because its a K motor :D

1- 5K decomp'd(alot), T25, 1 3/4 SU suckthru, 26psi!?
2- 4K std comp, T3(!?),modded 4k carb, blowthru, 12-15psi, 84kw atw.
3- 4K std hi comp,mild cam,IHI turbo,modded 4k carb blowthru, 9psi

Nothing extravagent, but surprisingly reliable :D
