problem with tacho.. i think?

Postby scope » Wed Mar 16, 2005 1:09 pm

hello

i installed a tacho the other day and i'm not sure it's working correctly. if you take the car to 4000rpm it sounds like it's at 7000rpm, it sounds too fast to be 4 grand and doesn't really sound healthy. it's only a 3k in a ke30 but still i think that redlining around 4 grand is a bit low!

what do you think? (i got it hooked up to negative side of coil. i've read to do both but instructions said negative)

thanks

Rev it in netural until you hit valve bounce, or untill it sounds like its missing/dying. Then if its doing that at about 4000-5000 rpm then there is something wrong with your tacho, or the way you have it wired up :D.

or get another tacho you know works and temp wire it up next to the other one, and compare.

My 3k in my beach buggie goes to at least 7 with no sign of anything happening.

make sure your wires are touching enough. my shift light works fine at 5000rpm but when i set it at 6 it goes at 6500rpm... :?

youd be suprised aye..
around 4000rpm sounds a bout right for when its starting to redline - the 3Ks dont go much over 7000rpm.
