Who would win a grudge match - CHINA VS USA

Scenario - Usa invading China

USA-
Pro- greater warfare technology
cons- Slow manufacture/Lack Lustre Economy



China-
Pro- Mass production capability and huge population base/Good Economy
cons - Average to good Warfare Technology

why?

coz with china and america busy pummelling each other, gradually reducing the respective sizes of their armys... the russians will be sitting watching, waiting for the time to pounce on their weak rivals. when the time is right BAM! they invade and conquer the two biggest rival millitary nations in the world...

and thus the russians would rule the world...

Only have to look at the 2nd world war to see that the USA's production can step up a gear or three when required but as has been said, China's manpower would resist an invasion quite easily but this theoretical war I believe would not be fought with sheer manpower alone.
Mao once said a nuclear war would not defeat China because if you wiped out 100k people, it's only a spec on the whole population or something very similar along those lines.

id say a war on this scale ( assuming that the war would be to the finish ) would take decades. And there is no way it would stay between the 2 countries.

use invading china... if keeping weapons to conventional (as if!) then china will win by sheer numbers,

usa has the tech, and the training. chinas army is powerful in the sense it has numbers, the tech lags behind but i think the gap has close recently, still usa has the best tech by quite a bit. so in this scenario, use invading china, the us would get hammered. anywhere else and china would get a total pasting.

Hahah thats in the past! Can't you remember the 3 months ago the Us soldiers moaning about having to use banged up old armour on their armoured hummers and small tanks. Rumsfeld said they could only manufacture and fast as they could. They are a shell of their former self.

Just think of the US invading Iraq, how long did it take them and how many were killed by a few thousand stubborn ground troops!

Now multiply those by lets say 40million (cant remember the pop of China) as well as the Chinese having more up to date military capabilities.

I'm voting for the us. I hate to though.

Look at it this way.

China doesn't have any capability (bar 40 odd nukes and 2 ballistic missle subs) to strike at mainland usa. The us on the other hand can strike any part of china with overwhelming force.

It basically comes down to a war of attrition. The us can launch planes from 10 carriers in the china sea, planes from korea, japan, and taiwan if its still habitable. All without much opposition.

The Chinese blue water navy, including those ballistic missle subs, would be sunk within hours and the airforce will be chewed up within days.

After that then the us wouldn't really need to do anything other than bomb the ass out of them till they give up.

the us wouldnt be able to take mainland china, they woudl own the chinese anywhere else in the world, but not mainland china

Take out power, water, general infrastructure and sooner or later the people are going to say enough is enough.

10-15 years ago this would have taken a long long time but now that the Chinese are becoming more and more urbanised it wouldn't be too long.
