ac removal in ae92

Postby mr20v » Thu Mar 17, 2005 8:29 pm

i have taken the ac out of my fxgt but the power steering pump does not seem to be as adjustable as i thought it would be so i have no way of tensioning my new power steering belt.

i have 2 options as far as i can see:

-putting the old ac bracket and attached tensioner back on and pissing around getting a random belt that fits.

-getting one of whatever a non ac'ed 4age uses to adjust the belt. I dont know what this is however.

a liitle advice would be nice

cheers.

Pissing around getting a random belt isn't that much of a hassle. Put a bit of string around the belts and see how long it is in millimetres, see how many ribs on the belt and go to Repco and get one. Like a 4PK540 would be a 540mm long belt with 4 ribs.

I ended up taking my aircon pump out on my Levin and welding another pulley on to the PS pump and driving it off the next set of pulley over from the original with a "random" belt. Probably more work than you're after though :P

Go and have a look at a wreckers for a different bracket, or just use what you had unless you've got a reason not to?

i had the same problem with mine. the previous owner removed the aircon, the belt that was put on as a replacement wasnt tensioned right cos all they had done was take off the crankshaft pulley and put the new belt on like that. if you use the exsisting tensioner pulley you can find a belt at repco if you take the dimension of the belt and the length they just type it in there pc and they will find you the right one
