how do i tell what version conrods i have

Postby R15 » Thu Mar 17, 2005 10:55 pm

my car (hack) a diesel caldina with a 2c had noist bearings, so i pulled them out, except even with my full model code there is 3 variations of beairngs.
i need to choose 1 2 or 3, there is 2 2 with another 2 stamped ontop but slightly above te other 2 on each bottom pat (that holds the conrod onto the crank.) does this mean its a version 2?

sorry, im crap with part names, but hopefully you get the idea

I could be wrong but I think version 1,2 & 3 are the description for oversized bearings? IE, to suit a reground crank. one of them is standard and the other two are bigger.

Hard to come up with the wording to explain it at this time of the day!

its called a numbered bearing system
123 are for stock cranks to allow for tool wear on the crankshaft

genrally when you go oversize you are more accurate....
that is all

as vega...

measure your crank, find out if its still in spec, then 2s should be fine.
your local dealer should be able to provide you wit a photocopy from the relavant page from the manual that shows how to figure out the bearing sizes, and the crank tolerances etc
