Trumpet setup for Blacktop AE111

Postby Flyboy » Mon Mar 21, 2005 2:09 pm

Im looking into the idea of 4 trumpets on the end of the trottle bodies.. With a sock over the top...

Will a box where the intake manifold is and a bonnet scoop will feed it enough air? Or will i need more?

its worth noting that that box has been specifically designed by someone smarter than us for use with those trumpets, if you want longer straighter ones, cut a hole in your bonnet and stick them out with some filters on them

at the moment those trumpets are tuned for around 5-6 thousand rpm ( i cant quite remember) and with out them the car is tuned for apx ( i dodnt quite measure stuff accuratly) 12,000 rpm, so its all about where u want the power coming in

if your engine is stock, or near to it playing with the trumpets will only DECREASE perfromance. unless you are very very smart, and in which case you wouldnt be asking questions....

haha ok

then what you need to do is decide to what rev range you wanna tune the trumpets.... experimentaion may be needed. or at least some clever maths.

google:
heimholtz (saved ya from another redmist  )
and i guess you coudl try things like port tuning, intake trumpets etc
stick those in, read away... and see if you can prevent ya self getting confused!

do a search on all the topics about removing intake trumpets and helmholtz. You'll find it comes up every six weeks, redmist tells them whats up but no-one seems to listen

I'm blushing.

In all honesty I hope you educated yourself in regards to Helmholtz. Its a complex subject and I only ever touch on the very tip of reversion pulse tuning.
