AE101 clicking noise

hey guys

car : 1994 ae 101 fxgt silver top 4age

problem ....

i have just noticed that when i turn my key to acc ... there is 3 clicks come from the engine bay ... now i cannot for the life of me find out where from i thought it was from up top where the throttle bodies are ???

its a series of 3 CLICKS ... about half a second to a second appart
does it every time i turn the key on ...

has any one got any ideas...

My GTZ does this too, i thought it was normal 8O

The first two are kinda together, and then the third click a little further apart.

my gtz doesn't do it.... it doesn't sound like the sound a normal engine would have... Can you give a better description of it??

Its not an engine sound, more like an ignition sound. I pretty sure its normal, it could be like a checking thing before it lets you start the car, or maybe ABS check or something

well ive only just started noticing it its never done this before so i thought maybe something was a bout ready jack in ...

and yeah teh 1st 2 are closer together than the 3rd

i didnt hear it do it this morning ??? but there wasa bit of traffic about so i will listen again to night

and yes mine does it when i turn the key to ACC ... then when you turn it round to IGNITION its fine : 8O 8O 8O

mr revhead suggested a relay some where maybe ?

is this going to be another toyota mistery ....

id go with its a relay.

how many things *turn on* when you turn your ignition on?

they will all controlled by relays, so its bound to be that.

Well as far as im concerned its normal, ive had my car for 3 years and its done it the whole time and not failed me during.

My sisters Civic and my old Integra did the same thing. Revhead is probably right, its just the relay. When my Integra didnt do it was the problem, cos if it didnt then it wouldnt start! Common problem in Hondas too, ignition relay fails. But thats another story

well its still doing it ... it goes .... CLICK then about a half second gap and then CLICK and then bout 1 to 2 sec later CLICK

have you got ABS? if yes - that what is doing sound (initializing? solenoid inside ABS unit)
