Crank centre piece differences

Postby ATAl » Wed Mar 23, 2005 8:18 pm

I've got two 4age cranks, as seen in the pic below, one has a centre rubber bit, the other does not. Anyone know what this bit is for? Is it needed?

The crank with the rubber bit is from a 4agze the other just a normal 4age, tho there should be no difference between the cranks.

Also the rubber bit looks removable.

Spigot Bearing....

Postby jondee86 » Wed Mar 23, 2005 8:48 pm

Hiya.... now you know what a spigot bearing looks like :D

The crank with the spigot bearing (the rubber bit is the seal on
the bearing) has been used in a RWD application.

Cheers, but that raises a whole lot of questions about where my engine came from, ae101 my ass, tho that does explain the rwd radiator hose outlet nicely.

Spigot bearing....

Postby jondee86 » Thu Mar 24, 2005 9:22 pm

Hmmmm...... don't know about that. I got the engine out
of an AE92 manual and it didn't have a spigot bearing fitted.

But I never fitted a FWD gearbox so I don't know what holds
the input shaft in place :?
