1JZ pics of fromt of engine needed

Postby MrOizo » Tue Mar 29, 2005 3:34 pm

I now have the poor JZA70 in bits again. What i wanna know is if anyone has pics of the front of the engine without the water pump on and if you know for SURe that the crank pulley, and lower belt cover needs to be removed to get the pump out?

mine's developed a leak and need to fix it ASAP.

Cheers

I think you do need to remove the belt which means pulley and bottom timing cover off, it won't take much longer (like maybe 5 -10 mins longer) and you'll find it much less of a struggle replacing the pump itself without all that stuff in the way.

1jzgte water pump

Postby KE20 » Tue Mar 29, 2005 6:08 pm

hi, ive just changed the water pump on my 1jzgte, ive now taken it in and out about 5 times now. you have to remove the lower belt cover, also the cam gears and the cover behind as one of the waterpump bolts is behind it, also you need to remove the cam belt tensioner so you can remove tensioner pulley to get to some more bolts. im not sure but i think also the crank pulley needs to be removed so you can get the lower belt cover off. i just broke mine off cause when i undid the cover i couldn't get it out. you also have to undo top bolt for alternator as it bolts to water pump.

Is your cooling fan hydralic? driven off the waterpump? or is your new engine different to mine?

i got hydrulic pump on mine and the seal between the hyralic pump and water pump went. you have to split hole pumpin half to replace, its a left hand tread holding in waterpump, its a $50 seal and 3wks from japan.
of you do decide to not use hyra pump, keep fluid in it or dismantal and remove inturnal of pump.

I bought a genuine waterpump (cheaper than aftermarket!?) and it came with the whole rear housing which the waterpump bolts to, if its definantly coming from that area it could give you an idea of whats behind there which could leak...
