ooooh theyd look sweet on my 20v!

to big a wheel can adversly affect handling.... like 18s on a starlet... betcha that feels weird.... ever notice that when you change from say a 14" to a 17-18 the car "tracks" all over the road? or at least more. also ride quality can be worse, as the tyre sidewall is stiffer.. trsanfering a lot of the nvh that would other wise be cushioned by the tyres.

so to answer the question....
depends on the car! on my ae101 id never go over 16". but that sto suit my driving style, im happy with my current 14s. handle very well :D

I stepped up from 14s and yeah the ride did get a little worse, but bugger all. Cant say I know what you're on about tracking, seems to drive fine and makes the steering seem a lot more direct.

I went from 155/80/R13's to 205/40/17's's, it is bumpy as $&#$% now, but that's mainly because of the suspension.

different cars react differently.

huge wheels and tyres (width as well) on a small light car can cause it to be more prone to moving around due to bumps on the road. although this may be caused by the suspension set up, the larger wheels etc and exaggerate it.
thats why i hate driving fwd starlets with anything bigger than 16s!

if you have the chance, drive a starship on 14s then swap some 17-18s onto it. youll notice what i mean

i have 15" on my levin, found them fine, driven a few levins with 17" and found them not the greatest, but i reckon, for looks, small car 15" looks fine, and dosent look like a 4X4, but a bigger car 17's-18's are fine....

but it comes down to personal opinion
