AE101 Corolla GT muffler

Postby Trevor » Fri Apr 01, 2005 12:13 am

I have just bought this car and it came with a 2 1/4" exhaust (not too sure, but what I was told)with no catalyctic converter, one resonator (as far as I can see), a muffler that has a 2 1/2" inlet about .5m long (welded to the 2 1/4" pipe), and a big tip and can that I havent measured yet. It sounds really good, and is not too loud, but the sound is very noticable, and I have this massive muffler hanging off the back of the car. The problem is I'm 17, so I have a feeling the police and licencing people arent going to like this.

Now my question is, what muffler can I get that is not too big or loud, but still retains the nice deepish sound? What I'm after is something thats quiet unless I want it to be, you know?

Thanks for your help.

I assume you have a cannon muffler right now? If so just get a decent offset muffler, something like flowmaster.

Thanks for that. Yeah a cannon muffler. Any good places to look for these sort of mufflers?

Try Dean at Mr Muffler in Onehunga. He has done my exhausts for only the last 10 or so years  He knows the right combinations and style of mufflers to give the customer the sound they want!

If its not too loud, i wouldn't worry about it. They have slacked off about now that that stupid new law has been in a while. Just dont drive like a dumb fu*k.
