Fuel pump location? air locks???

Postby YeMs » Sun Apr 03, 2005 6:33 pm

as some of you may kno iv been having sum issues with my car. ke30 with a 3tgteu. i have a custom fuel setup (of course) consisting of a low pressure pump, surge tank, high pressure pump, 10mm fuel lines and a fuel pressure gauge.

now the car has been doing this for a while, but is really inconsistent. wat happens is randomly the car will feel like it is dropping a cylinder and start surging. the A/F ratio gauge drops right of the gauge (on lean) and yeh basically its a whore bag c**t dick fag nuts arse hole wank wank.

any way, the high pressure pump is located in the boot about the same level as the surge tank. is it possible that this could b causing an air lock in the fuel lines at all? im just getting REALLY frustrated with it.

What sort of low pressure pump are you using? Does it have enough flow to keep the surge tank full?

I ran a similar setup on my EE90 using a second hand Honda carby pump but it couldnt keep up with the flow and kept running the H/P pump dry.

As long as the H/P pump is at or below the fuel pickup of the surge tank I cant see a problem there, so the first thing I would check is to make sure the surge tank is staying full at all times.

yeh it sounds logical. and to be quite honest the low pressure pump has been making the horiest noise lately, like a really loud ticking noise. never used to do it, i thought it was just a wear issue and it still worked. the only consistency i can link with each occurance is that it does it on open road driving under minor excelleration. logically, this would b wen the car would b drinking alot, making the most of the H/P pumps flow rate and if the L/P pump cant keep up with the highest flow rate then it would cause the H/P pump to run dry, right?
