rules for making Intake manifold?

Postby Liloss » Fri Apr 01, 2005 10:35 pm

going to make a custom intake manifold....Just wondering what design tips are out there, is there any real rules/guides to follow?

It's going on a boosted application...

cheers

there are a few books on the topic, corky bell's maximum boost covers it fairly well from a broad perspective, is a good place to start.

Depends on what you want to build, you might want single throttle, large plenum, long tapered runners. or you might want quad throttles, short runner etc. So many different variables. Im building a quad throttle setup for my 4AGTE, very short runners (32mm) in the manifold, 12-15 cm ramtubes into a 4 litre plenum.
pm Redmist, he might be able to point you in the right direction
If it doesn't fit, force it.
If it breaks it needed replacing anyway!

well i doont want quads as its going on a V6 3vz. Whats the effect of short runners? and whats best for a turbo setup?

i was thinking of designing one like on a vg nissan engines, in a U shape with the TB on one end of the U and the runners running straight down to the inlet valves.

what should the intake manifold be made from?

thanks

Short runners for high RPM power, longer runners for low down torque.
don't make the runners too big you want more velocity for a NA
Hope that helps.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.
