well its easy to feel that way in nz, we see next to nothing in terms of good racing.
unless you have sky you cant see NASCAR.
we dont get world/euro touring cars, JGTCC, FIA GT, ALMS etc etc....
all VERY good classes with soem awesome cars and extremly good racing.
F1 will always be special, cause its F1. but when you compare the bare RACNG with other classes, especially those mentioned above, well it pales signifigantly.
i agree with you on the tyre rules. havign 2 guns would make it very interesting
will toyota do any better in F1 this year?

one thing that annoys me with f1 now is that they are always trying to slow the cars down. isnt f1 about the best drivers in the world, driving the fastest cars in the world (circuit) as fast as possible?? i read an interesting article in f1racing mag, that said that without all the new regulation, and outlawed parts a f1 car could lap 20 secs faster round silverstone!! and they say they are trying to reduce costs, but isnt having to develop a whole new engine for next year just a complete contradiction?? i mean the cost of developinga new engine cant be cheap!!!
but away from the negative, i think this season is going to be one of the best seasons in a while!! as much as i appreciate schumachers supreme talent (even though i dislike him but i have to admit this even though it hurts to do so!!!) its so good seing a change of guard also, old drivers on the out and new young world champiuonship contenders such as alonso and raikkonen!!! i can see those two battling hard for years to come, they are the two best drivers in f1 behind schumacher (cringe again). and seeing as this is a toyota forum i better say its good to see toyota doing welll, and honda blowing up 3 laps into the race!! that reallly made my nite!!

According to all the articles I've read in reputable magazines like Race Engine Technology, Racetech and Racecar engineering, the power outputs are up on last year and the rev limits are at the same level or in some cases slightly higher. What has changed is that they put less miles on them in practice which is not good for the spectator.
Next years engine rules however really suck and ruin the essence of F1, which always had reasonably open engine rules. Now they've outlawed most recent developments, virtually specified the engine by regulating max bore size, having fixed bore centres, minimum weights, minimum CG heights, outlawing anything except common Aluminium alloys for the block heads & pistons, steel and titanium for the valves, conrods & crank, No hollow or welded together cranks, no hydraulics, pneumatics or solenoids except for valve closing and a single actuator for the throttle. May as well make it a spec engine race, but then that wouldn't be F1, not that these new rules are either
As for Toyota's performance, I think they will continue to geta few podiums this year, maybe a win, though that would be a bonus. Next year should see them regularly on the podium with some wins as well, maybe even fighting for the manufacturers championship.
