seatbelts

Postby baker » Mon Apr 04, 2005 10:03 pm

wheres the best/cheapest place (not crusty old seatbelt, but not over priced) place to get a seat belt? my drivers belt keeps locking, some days it can take 5 - 10 minutes to get it out, other days it works fine (luckily it worked for me WOF today!)
also, when I do get one, how easy are they to install, and I mean EASY. im a mess when it comes to installing anything (unless theres someone in st heliers/glendowie area who cud help me out).

assistance would be wicked.

cheers

generally there easy as to install, 3-5 bolts, possibly one or two wire connections and youre away.
If you cant shift a spanner then not really diy, but in general there easy as.

from memory (dont have an ae92 anymore) for the belt you have 3 bolts- 1 holding the main unit, 1 on the roofline, one on the floor/sill. The only one that is harder to get to is the main unit which involves taking off the rear 1/4 internal pannels. to do this you probably should also take out the rear seat (just the lower section).easy as job.
sonce you didnt fail on wof for it, then you could consider looking around pick-a-part for a good belt, they have the ae9x's in all the time.its only about $16 for a belt there, but yea, make sure its mint.
also, when removing yours, make sure it was bolted in level- sometimes if bolted in wrong they can act much like you described.
