JZX100 problem

Postby KE20 » Fri Apr 15, 2005 11:04 pm

i got a jzx100 and can't get the boot open. the key turns, but nothing happens, the boot pull lever pulls a cable(yyes theres a cable, you can hearit by the key moving stuff), but the boot doesn't open. and the fuel tank is behind the seat. any ideas?

using key, turn it and maybe lift the boot after u turn the key?? else sit on the boot or apply some force down then try the key at the same time? then get off the boot?? maybe u have got something stuck between the latch.. like a cloth or carpet etc... or maybe the latch bolts are loose.. good luck man...

can u go into the boot from inside the car?
else, break the lock .. if no luck... i got a aftermarket key lock thing here that i want to get rid off.

A long shot but worth mentioning... Are you using the valet key that only works on the ignition? Can you unlock/lock the glovebox with it? I've got a funny boot lock over-ride thing under the steering column thing, do you?

I remember we had a ford fairlane which had a boot override. You bridge a jumper somewhere near the fuse box. Don't know if these jappa's have it though.

When I mean boot over-ride, I mean a place where you insert the master (not valet) key and it makes the boot unopenable. That's what I have. Can't say I have my head around it totally...

boot

Postby KE20 » Thu Apr 21, 2005 2:58 pm

the key i have is a copy, but it locks/unlocks glovebox. i removed back seat and parcel tray and when i remove the middle seat belt, i can see into the boot(with a torch) and it looks like it has some sort of electronic thing. i tried using a socket to undo the lock but can't. i was thinking that may be the original key had a boot open/unlock thing built into it
